From my initial contact with a Metronet rep,to the install tech has been outstanding. And the 100% fiber connection is great! I was a little worried after having the same old provider for years to make the switch to Metronet. It has been worth it so far. I’d recommend giving them the opportunity to be your provider.
Comparable to other services but they nickel and dime you to death with add-ons. It is a tactic used by many companies to suck you in and then they try to keep you. Their latest is to tack on 3% to your bill if you pay by credit card (illegal in most other countries) and of course their $12 per month "Tech Assure" charge.People would be a lot happier if you just stated the price we were all going to pay up front and let us decide, instead of hiding charges masked as other things which the customer has no options other than to pay. It isn't a good look and shows poor integrity.
Getting everything set up was fine. Installer cut through irrigation line when burying cable. Opened a ticket on May 19 and it still isn’t resolved. Spent over 50 minutes trying to get through this morning and couldn’t. Terrible first experience with an issue.

Reviews
Metronet Des Moines has received mixed reviews from customers. While some praise the technicians for being knowledgeable, efficient, and respectful during installations or upgrades, others have faced issues with installation quality, billing discrepancies, unreliable service appointments, and poor customer service. Complaints range from incorrect fiber wire placements causing damage to property and delays in burying lines to inconsistent internet speeds below advertised rates. Despite some positive experiences with fast installations and friendly technicians, there are concerns about Metronet's overall reliability and customer support.

We’ve had Metronet for about a year now and while we have had good service and pretty decent connection, my biggest complaint is the fact that we have to call to have them reconfigure the connection every time our power goes out for any reason.I’ve had a lot of internet providers and I’ve never had to call them to reset things on their end for something like this. Usually it’s just a matter of unplugging the router to reset. I was told it was just how the program is set up and it’s not something that can be fixed. It would be great if this is something that could be looked at as I’ve had to sit on the phone for almost an hour every time.
Sharing just to help those trying to decide if they should get Metronet installed or not. The installation was not good, they ran the fiber wire from the wrong box and over a walking path that wasn't barried for 5 months. They brought it into the house in the wrong spot that damaged siding. The line was cut 3 times during the winter since the line was over a walking path that the city plows. When I called to cancel they said the only way I can cancel is to physically return the equipment. I finally returned it and was billed after I returned it and they couldn't refund or stop payment on it.
